Established in 1930 by Syd Mitchell, Mitchell Playford & Radburn Solicitors has been serving the Northern Rivers region ever since. Russell Playford partnered with Syd Mitchell in the early 1960s and Geoff Radburn joined as a partner in 1972, when the firm became known by its current name. The former principal, Greig Lamond, moved to Casino in 1980 to become a partner in Mitchell Playford & Radburn. In February 2023, Carlie Loy and Marcus Cusack became the new partners of the firm, after working as associates for many years.

Our Team

Carlie Loy — Law Firm Northern Rivers , NSW

Carlie Loy – Principal 

Carlie completed a Bachelor of Law and Business, majoring in Accounting in 2007 at Southern Cross University after receiving a scholarship from Casino RSM Club. After completing her graduate diploma of legal practice in 2008, Carlie was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW in that same year and later entered on the Register of Practitioners of the High Court of Australia allowing appearances in the Federal Courts.


Carlie has been with Mitchell Playford and Radburn since 2007 and takes instructions in a variety of legal matters including family law, wills and estates and conveyancing.

 

Outside of work, Carlie values time with her family and sitting as the Chairperson of the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League and Group 1 Junior Rugby League Judiciary and Code of Conduct panels.

Marcus Cusack — Law Firm Northern Rivers , NSW

Marcus Cusack – Principal 

Marcus has been with Mitchell Playford & Radburn since 2017, when he joined the team as an Associate Solicitor shortly after his admission as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of NSW in 2018.


Marcus completed his tertiary education at Southern Cross University and was awarded the degrees of Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business majoring in Finance. 


When Marcus isn’t working, he enjoys spending lots of his time with his family, pets and friends whilst also being closely affiliated with the Casino Bulls Rugby Union Club, where he has played first grade rugby union with the club for many years. 



Marcus has a broad legal practice and takes instructions in a range of legal matters, which include criminal law, property, business law, commercial litigation and trusts & estate planning.
